Welcome!

My name is Alexis Weaver. I’m a lifelong animal lover, originally from New Jersey, now working in sunny California. I’m actually an environmental engineer by training, but I’ve been passionate about dogs and dog behavior since a young age. Not many ten year-olds put the book The Dog’s Mind by Bruce Fogle on their Christmas lists! As a kid, I devoured every dog training book and TV show I could get my hands on. This desire for knowledge led me to pursue a foundational dog training certification program through CATCH Canine Training Academy in 2021. Since then, I’ve been working with foster dogs, dogs at rescues, and friends’ and family’s dogs. At the end of 2023, I completed a shadow program with The Good Dog in New Orleans, where I was able to really expand my technical understanding of dog training and how to more effectively help owners.

I believe a balanced approach is the best approach to dog training (and to life, but that’s another story!), which includes rewarding a dog for desired behaviors and fairly correcting them for unwanted behaviors. Each dog is unique, so my approach won’t be the same from one dog to the next. I’ll keep an open mind, and hope that you do too!

My goal is to help you achieve your goals - whether that’s learning or solidifying obedience commands, stopping unwanted behaviors, or just living a safer, calmer life with your canine companion. Since I haven’t trained enough dogs or owners yet to feel comfortable charging money for my services, I’m starting out offering free training. If you’re interested in working together, fill out the form below, and I’ll email you to set up a phone consultation!
